Name and Tame that Bitch!

At McBride Productions, we believe we’re on a spiritual journey right along with you. While it might not sound too spiritual, we are starting a new series, Name and Tame That Bitch!  that focuses on identifying and addressing areas of self-sabotage in our spiritual quest.  First up…

Name & Tame That Bitch!

Project: Weight Loss

Spiritual journeys don’t exist in a vacuum. You can’t just work on your soul’s health without giving focused attention to all areas of your life, including your self-image.

Unconditional love for ourselves is one of the most important life lessons for us to master.  Only after we learn to love ourselves can we truly love others. But learning unconditional love can be challenging. Where do we start?

We first need to address our earthly experience.  That involves becoming the person we want to be. For many women (our primary demographic) our body and weight are intrinsically linked to our identity.

This especially rings true for Kym and Jennifer. (Jennifer is Kym’s Marketing/all-hands-on-deck/go-to gal)  but we want to shift the focus from the scale toward a more balanced approach.  We want to improve our self-love, self-image, and overall emotions around food.

We are embarking on a four-month accountability challenge. Both of us have the goal of shedding excess fat and fitting into smaller clothes.  But we are really hoping to learn more about ourselves, and how we can #NameAndTameThatBitch that seeks to undermine us.  We will be using different diets but similar tools.  We know we will struggle along the way and we are prepared for setbacks. But we are also prepared for big strides in self-awareness.  We’ll be posting our progress every two weeks.  Sign up if you want to have our progress notifications updates sent to you. Send us good energy!

Meet our inner bitches...

Kym’s inner bitch is ‘Anna Nicole.’

Jennifer’s inner bitch is ‘Tiffany.’

Kym Starting Point Name and Tame That Bitch

Kym's Starting Point

I too have had weight issues my whole life, but unlike Jennifer, I never did the whole diet roller coaster-at least until early 2019.

I decided to try the Keto lifestyle change. It checked all my boxes for a “forever” change. It worked brilliantly, I lost 45lbs and down 6 pant sizes. I put so much time and energy into learning about Keto and fasting that I didn’t focus more clearly on my head. I did some work, but not enough.

For one- I couldn’t SEE my weight loss. Yes, the scale went down, the clothes were falling off… but I could not see what everyone else could. I had a metal block around this.

Then I had a surprise loss and I turned to food to soothed my soul…and the scale soon went up till I regained all that weight back.

Now this time, I’m ready to start again and since I already know how to do Keto, I’m coming out the gate to work on my “stinking thinking” I’m starting with paying attention to my thoughts and behaviors that are running the show. I’m taking my power back and I need to figure out why my mind is sabotaging me. I’m going to Name and Tame that Bitch!

Jennifer's Starting Point

I’ve been overweight my entire life.  I’ve moved from one diet to the next, stuck in the endless cycle of gain-lose-gain-some-more. Long term medications didn’t help the situation, nor did injuries. But at the end of the day my problem always boiled down to emotional eating.

I had weight loss surgery in June of 2018, and over the course of a year lost 100 lbs.  I did well  because I painstaking worked on my internal dialogue and habits. But I’ve expereinced some regain in 2020.

This year has been challenging for me on a very personal level, and I turned to food out of stress.  I gained 20 lbs because I lost sight of who I am and slipped back into old habits.  I let food become the loudest voice in my life. That needs to change.

This four-month challenge is a reset for me. It’s about getting back to the basics: more water, more movement, fewer calories, etc. But more importantly, it’s about learning to change my relationship with food, so that ‘Tiffany’ doesn’t have the power.  That bitch just doesn’t need to be running my life.  I do.

It’s my life. It’s my journey. Here I go!

We will be using this book for morning  goal setting and evening review.

Kick Off Lunch

As counter intuitive as it sounds, we kicked off our project with a celebratory lunch at Chuys. We know that lifestyle changes mean working new habits into everyday life and planning for social situations. Holidays can’t be avoided. Parties will happen. You’ll need to attend business lunches.  We want to view these occasions as part of the journey instead of something to dread or berate yourself over if you ‘blew it’ and ate too much.  We choose to look at all meals, big or small, dining in or out, staying within goals or breaking them…as lessons.
